BOTI WATERFALLS

Depart Accra in the morning for Boti Waterfalls in the Eastern Region of Ghana . Drive through Koforidua, the capital city of the Eastern Region to the Huhunya Forest to meet the amazing twin falls in Ghana.  You can swim in the pool of water created by the falls or cruise in a canoe on the river. Relax at the falls and have some sun bath before returning to Accra to end the tour.

COCOA RESEARCH INSTITUTE

Ghana is the second largest producer and exporter of cocoa beans in the world.

Cocoa research Institute was established to research into diseases that affect the production of cocoa in the West African region and also improve its production.

Depart Accra after breakfast and drive to the Eastern Region of Ghana and visit the Cocoa Research Institute at Tafor

Drive through towns such as Aburi, Mampong,  Koforidua before getting to Tafo. Meet the tour guides who will tell the history of cocoa production in Ghana and also about the Institute. Visit a cocoa farm nearby and know the processes of cocoa production, the challenges and the solutions.  You will also know how the  the bye products of cocoa  are used to produce various items, such as soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, soaps, lotions, creams etc.

Visit their shop and buy their well packaged products such as cocoa drink, cocoa powder, chocolate, soaps, alcoholic beverages. Visit the cocoa college at Bunsu, where agricultural officers are trained.

DODI PRINCESS CRUISE

The Dodi process Cruise is a recreational ferry, operated by the Volta River Authority at Akosombo on the largest man-made lake in the world the Volta lake. This cruise is operated at weekends and public holidays, but organized groups are attended to on week days.

Depart Accra at 6 am in the morning and drive to Akosombo for one and a half hours.

Go through the entry formalities, before boarding the ferry.  Cruise from Akosombo for about 3 hours to the Dodi Princess Island with live band music, and lunch on board.

Meet some of the fisher folks who come there to sell their fish or entertain                                                                                                                               visitors with their local music.

Return to Akosombo and drive back to Accra for the end of the tour.

ASSIN MANSO SLAVE RIVER/CAPE COAST CASTLE

This was the place where African captured were made to regain their strength and prepared for good prices. Visit the Slave River where the enslaved Africans took their last bath before taken to the castles at Cape and Elmina Castles.

Depart Assin Manso to Cape Coast Castle for a tour. Hear about how the slaves were treated by the European Slave Traders before they were shipped across the Atlantic ocean to the new world.

Return to Accra to end the tour.

VOLTA ESTUARY – ADA

Depart Accra for a one and half hours drive to visit Volta Estuary at Big Ada Cruise on the Volta Lake to some villages on the island. Visit a crocodile pond and see crocodiles in their natural habitat, and a African python.

Visit a local distillery, where sugarcane is used to produce a local gin called Akpeteshie with a very high alcoholic content. You will be taken through the processes of production.

Experience the village life and sample the drinks. You can have lunch at any of the resorts doted along the lake.

A2 DAY TOUR OF VOLTA REGION OF GHANA

Bright Horizon Tours, is organizing a two days tour to part of the Volta Region of Ghana. Participants will be afforded an opportunity to escape from the busy Accra life and boredom and explore new and serene environments.

There will be visits to interesting places with historical, cultural and social importance like Akosombo Dam, Adomi Bridge, Ho the capital of the Volta Region Amedzofo, the highest human habitat in Ghana, Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary and the Wli Waterfalls, the highest and biggest Waterfall in West Africa.

ITENERARY FOR A TOUR TO VOLTA REGION

DAY 1 – Depart Accra at 8am in an Air-Conditioned Bus with a Tour Guide to Volta Region. Stop over at Atimpoku, a famous trade centre near the Adomi Bridge, a place where food sellers run after vehicles in competition to sell foods like Abolo and “one mouth thousand” fried fish, lobster etc. Leave  Atimpoku to visit the Akosombo Hydro Electric Dam, the largest man-made Lake in the world.

Have parked lunch on board. Drive from Akosombo to Ho, the capital of the Volta Region for a city tour, and also visit a Kente village of Agotime Kpetoe.

Leave Agotime Kpetoe back to Chances Hotel in Ho for dinner and overnight.

DAY 2 – Depart Ho at 6:30am for Amedzofe the highest human habitat in Ghana and conquer the GEMI mountain and witness the dramatic landscape of Volta Region.

Depart Amedzofe and drive through Hohoe to the Wli waterfalls, the largest and highest waterfall in West Africa.

Trek for about 45 minutes through the lush tropical forest to witness tons and tons of water cascade down the hill in an awesome perpetual splash!! You can swim in the pool created by falls and have lot of fun or meditate.

Return to the receptic centre and get ready to leave for Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary and be greeted by Mona Monkeys, which cohabit with the local people who believe that the monkeys are their ancestral deities. With banana in hand, one can take a photograph with the monkeys.

Depart finally back to Accra.

Depart Accra after breakfast to Prampram a fishing community in the eastern part of Greater Accra Region.

Visit an African American community and see an ancestral wall built by one of the African American man who returned and settled in Prampram. See a collection of pictures of great men and women of African desert over the centuries, Mr. Jerry Johnson and his team will guide you around and tell you the history of these heroes.

A restaurant and a pub are available and a delicious meal will be prepared on request.
